The second creation story in Genesis, the one in which Adam is created, is linked to modern times by a series of genealogies that imply that Adam was created around 4004 BCE. However, the world is actually around 4.3 billion years old, and the first modern humans already existed over two hundred thousand years ago.

They are entirely different accounts, written by different authors who lived centuries apart. According to the second creation story, Adam was the first creation by God. However, the earth already existed and plants [seeds] were in the ground but had not grown, as God had yet to cause it to rain (Genesis 2:5). As with many early Near Eastern creation myths, the earth itself was uncreated.
