That depends on a few factors. First of all, is this something you can do yourself? If you CAN, then you can probably do the job for $250 or less (plus a day or two of work) even if you have to replace the head (you can get a replacement head for $50 or less at a self-serve salvage yard). This job would be completely worth doing, even if you plan to sell the car and get something new (it would mean the difference between getting something for the car vs having to pretty much give it away). But if you have to pay someone else to do the job, the cost soars. This job can easily top $1000 - especially if your head is unfixable. Because the cost of this job can near, equal, or even exceed the blue book value of the car, it might be better to replace it than repair it.
