Is kadalai paruppu and pottu kadalai are same?

Kadalai paruppu(bengal gram) and pottu kadalai ( roasted bengal gram) have the same root. The karuppu kadalai that we use to make sundal.

The former is the dehusked one and the latter, the processed one.
