NO!

==========================

I agree with the first answer, but I will support my view (at great length).

This is a touchy subject. Those who strongly support the liberal wing of the Democratic Party might say that much of what MoveOn.org has printed or broadcast is true...or at least mostly true...or maybe, well, it supports their views so even if not completely truthful...well...it OUGHT to be true.

Politically, I am an independent, leaning more toward conservative views than liberal -- I vote much more often for candidates who are Republican or Libertarian, although I have supported Democrats as well, and my favorite two presidents were Reagan and Truman...go figure. Anyway, I wanted to give you a glimpse into my political views to give you a better chance to assess my answer, which is (of course) going to be slanted by my own biases.

In my view, MoveOn.org had a valid basis for coming into being back in 1998, in response to efforts to impeach and remove Bill Clinton -- it's founders, husband and wife Wes Boyd and Joan Blades, felt that Congress should "censure Bill Clinton and MOVE ON." While I and most conservatives felt that impeachment and removal of Clinton was justified, I think a lot of us realized that he had shifted many of his policies to the right during his second term, that he would be gone in a couple of years anyway, and the efforts to remove him were counterproductive...they were tearing the country apart, and we had much more important matters to address. So, yes, in the beginning, although many independents and conservatives disagreed with MoveOn.org's views and tactics, I think a lot of us secretly agreed with its major objective, "...come on, let's just move on."

However, over the last 14 years, the tactics and ethics of MoveOn.org have become increasingly biased, questionable, and objectionable. They have often been forced to retract their more vicious attacks. They have produced many political advertisements (printed, on billboards, broadcast over network TV and radio, and distributed via the internet) that are so completely slanted and false, so ugly and offensive in their criticism of conservatives, that even many liberal Democrats have condemned them (especially the comparison of G. W. Bush to Hitler, and the nasty attacks on the integrity and loyalty of General David Patraeus). Their ads have come under fire from the right, from the center, and often from the left as well. After the attacks on Patraeus, the Senate overwhelmingly passed an amendment condemning the personal attacks on Patraeus, and the House quickly followed suit with a similar resolution - both were supported by all Republicans and a majority of Democrats.

One major area of criticism has come for their financing. Super wealthy super-liberals George Soros Linda Pritzker and Peter B Lewis have donated millions to MoveOn.org, primarily in support of the movement to defeat G. W. Bush in 2004, but for other liberal goals as well.

If you want to read more in-depth coverage of MoveOn.org, or of any of the people whose names I have used above, please look them up on Wikipedia. Of special note, you may want to read the "controversy" section of the Wikipedia article on MoveOn.org itself.

In sum, to answer your question, "Is MoveOn.org a truthful organization?", I would have to say NO, absolutely not. They don't really SUPPORT any candidate, they just viciously attack those political figures with whom they disagree.
