Depending on how indirect we want to be here, the answer is a resounding YES! This comes from trying to find out where the energy in fosil fuels like coal and oil come from. The oil is (simplified) broken down dinosaur. The dinosaur grew by eating things like plants, or other dinosaurs (but to simplify, he at plants). the plants grew by the energy gathered by sunlight.
