It depends on a number of things. For one, how is the person planning on making a living? If they have a natural musical gift and want to start a band, then school is not really that important. It also depends if the person enjoys and does well at school. What is the point of staying in school beyond high school if you accomplish nothing?
On the other hand if the person tries hard and does well at school then yes, it gives them a pretty good head start in life.
