Electric brake controllers (for trailer towing) can be added to any vehicle however, I have not ever wired one so I can't advise you on that. There should be instructions with the controller, unless it's used, in which case I would do a Google search for info on that.
No
It isn't there, Dodge didn't wire the Dakota with one. You will have to wire the brake controller your self.
Not all 1500's where built with it. If it is there it will be above the parking brake.
If you want trailer brakes you need a brake controller.
I don't believe there is one. I had to have mine wired in.
When one is using a trailer on their car, an electric brake controller measures the car's braking speed and adjusts the electric braking power of the trailer to correspond. This helps avoid collision between trailer and car.
There is a connection issue between the trailer brake controller and the trailer.
The connecting outlet is located under the left side of the dash above the emergency brake. You are looking for a plug in outlet that is color coded blue. The connecting pigtail that you can get from any Dodge dealer will also be blue on the end that you are going to plug in. Connect them together and then you are ready to connect the other end to your electric brake controller.
The brake wire is under the floor mat.
replace it

I found it easier to use the wires to the tail lights on the tractor.
