The information you need to answer this question is located at http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php . Last I knew it was not a interference motor. But some interference can happen if the engine is at a higher rev. There are certain procedures that must be done to verify one way or anotehr. My 97 3.4l belt broke while driving 70MPH on the hghway. I even tried to restart it not knowing the belt was broke. Had it towed to GM dealer and they mention that it was an interference engine and that there's most likely internal damage. I asked them to pull the cams and do a compression check all seemed well, I had them replace the belt and all is fine. It runs better than it has in the last few years. Car had 150,000 miles on it when this happened, now has 162,000 and I get 25-26 MPG overall (80% highway miles)
