That said, there is a negative connotation with the term politics, as, for an American audience, it reminds us of the sense of partisan political deadlock that seemingly prevents us from adequately addressing our problems. If we assume that we are in a state of partisan deadlock, and we take it that this is a bad thing, it could be viewed that this is not actually politics, but the prevention of politics, as it prevents policy makers from doing their actual jobs.
