There are three: the Grampian Mountains, the Northwest Highlands and the Southern Uplands. The Grampians are the largest, accounting for almost half of Scotland's land mass. The Cairngorms and the Lochaber hills are considered to be part of the Grampians, as are Ben Nevis and Ben Macdui, the two highest points in Britain (at 1,344 meters and 1,309 meters, respectively).
