Yes. It is true. Amoxycillin is broken down by the enzyme penicillinage. This enzyme brakes the beta lactum ring. Clavulanic acid blocks the enzyme penicillinage and keeps the amoxycillin free to act on bacteria. So they act together to give synergetic effect.
