You should check it first just to make sure. Usually it is ground but you never know. You can use a continuity tester, or a light bulb, or a test light. Make sure key is turned on and coil is hooked up when checking. There should be a harness on the end of your wires that only allows you to connect it one way.
Begin by removing the wiring harness from your 1998 Chevrolet Suburban ignition module. Remove the ignition module retaining screws. Reverse the process to install your new ignition module.

The green wire is the negative and the yellow is the positive. It should be marked pos and neg on the module.

It is inside the distributor, If you look at the right side of it you will see some electric wires and they are hooked to the module. Just remove the cap and then 2 screews that hold the module on the base of the distributor.
