Most Birth Control pills can increase your risk of blood clots, especially if you smoke and are over the age of 35. If you have some of the conditions listed above, you should weigh the risks and benefits of taking Emergency Contracteption- which is essentially the same medicine as a birth control pill, just in different doses.

You should also weigh the risk of not taking the medicine. High blood pressure and aortic stenosis could be very dangerous conditions during a pregnancy. You should probably plan ahead and use a safer method of birth control to prevent pregnancy. However, if you are a person with a heart condition, high blood pressure, etc. and find yourself pregnant, and don't want to be, the risk of taking 2 doses of hormones for Emergency Contraception is probably minimal, compared to taking birth control hormones every day, and probably much safer than getting pregnant.
