Yes the building is indeed still standing. Located at 321 West 44th street. It is neighbors to the Birdland Jazz club. George Martin (yes of The Beatles) bought the Record Plant in the late 80's and shortly thereafter it closed.

Depending on the age of your building and where you live, the applicable building department may have either a copy of the plans, or a "microfiche" of them (basically a tiny negative/positive film strip) or electronic record. If not, there may be a record of who the architect and/or general contractor was, and you may be able to inquire of them if they are still around and kept copies.
