Let's see. You provide no model, year, or engine size and expect an answer. You do list it under Pontiac but there are lots of Pontiacs. On some newer Pontiacs GM used a cartridge filter that is located under a plastic cover on top of the engine. Your owner's manual will tell you exactly where it is. Therefore if you go to your Local Auto Parts store and purchase the filter and look at it and find it to be a cartridge filter then it is on top of the engine. If it is a standard spin on filter it is located under the car on the engine somewhere.
