It is a possibility. But a more logical explanation might be that one or the other of you has call waiting and someone is trying to beep in. Your cell phone or cordless phone battery might also being starting to die. Most phone conversation recordings don't produce any kind of "give away" sound. That is the stuff of movies. If it was that easy to tell if someone was recording you....the "recorder" would just be wasting time because all you would have to do is hang up! Go to a Radio Shack or someplace like that and have them show you recording devices and how they work. That will give you a little better idea, and ease your mind...yes?
In most states as long as one party of the conversation, which could be the one doing the recording, has knowledge that they are being recorded, recording a phone conversation is legal.
Yes, only one person has to know that it is being recorded.
Yes - provided he makes you aware the call is being recorded.
Are you talking about having your conversation taped by police? Basically, the rule is at least one person involved in the conversation has to know that the conversation is being recorded, otherwise there needs to be a search warrant. For example, if I were a police officer and I was talking to you, I could record the conversation without your consent or knowledge, because I am involved in the conversation, and I know it is being recorded. However, if I am a citizen talking on the phone to another citizen, a search warrent would be required because neither subject was aware of the recording being made.
Absolutely ! The conversation is admissible in court as proof of the threat being made.
There are 12 States in the U.S. That requires ALL parties involved in the conversation (All Party Consent) to be made aware that the conversation is being recorded. These States are:CaliforniaConnecticutDelawareFloridaIllinoisMarylandMassachusettsMichiganMontanaNew HampshirePennsylvaniaWashingtonThe following 38 States require that at least ONE person (One Party Consent) involved in the conversation has given permission for the conversation to be recorded including the person doing the recording:AlaskaArkansasColoradoDistrict of ColumbiaGeorgiaHawaiiIdahoIndianaIowaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMaineMinnesotaMississippiMissouriNebraskaNevadaNew JerseyNew MexicoNew YorkNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregonRhode IslandSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahVermontVirginiaWest VirginiaWisconsinWyomingThis falls under the United States Code: Title 18.2511. As long as you actually take part in the conversation and are doing so in a State that allows "One Party Consent", it is quite legal to record the conversation without another party in the conversation giving permission or even being told that they are being recorded.Hope that fully answers your question..
Probably. Only one party to the recorded conversation need have knowledge according to NM state law. See: > http://www.callcorder.com/phone-recording-law-america.htm <
Theoretically no - so long as at least ONE of the people holding the conversation was aware they were being recorded. As long as it's not done 'discretely' (ie using bugging devices) For example - you are allowed to record EVERY phone-call you make or receive - PROVIDED you tell the other person they may be recorded.

Whether or not tapping someone's phone is illegal depends on the state in which you and your husband live. If the state you reside in is a one party state then no it is not illegal. One party state means that as long as one party is aware that the phone conversation is being recorded then it is legal.
Yes, on a cell phone, home phone and even a face to face conversation. There are however rules to follow per State and these are those rules listed below:There are 12 States in the U.S. That requires ALL parties involved in the conversation (All Party Consent) to be made aware that the conversation is being recorded.
