Is Jesus a Jewish prophet or a Christian one?

Neither. He is a Muslim prophet. Judaism does not recognized Jesus as anything more than a heretic. Christianity recognizes Jesus as the Son of God / Messiah and he is, therefore, far more than a prophet.

Why is Jesus important to Judaism and Islam?

Islam believes Jesus is a messiah and prophet but not divine. Jesus and his message in John said a comforter will come in john 14-16. In Islam they believe the comforter is Prophet Muhammad ( a messenger after Jesus). In old text of Bible in Hebrew mentions a name sound like Muhammad (mahammadim). In Judaism, Jesus has no importance and no role.

Is the Messiah God?

In other religions, I don't know what their beliefs state. In Judaism, the answer is no. The messiah whom we await is to be fully human. See more on this topic towards the bottom of this linked page.

Who is the most important old testament prophet?

What is the religions view on Jesus?

Christianity thinks Jesus was the Messiah (Christ), and son of God, who died on the cross taking on the sins off the World. Judaism thinks he was an ordinary man, not the Messiah, but a Rabbi (teacher). Jews are still waiting for the Messiah to come. Islam thinks he was a prophet of god, like Muhammad, only Muhammad is their main prophet and there will not be any more prophets. Muslims don't think that the prophets were any more than human. In scientific and historical sense it's quite possible, even though not convincingly certain, that Jesus really existed, but he was just a man, not a son of god, and didn't rise from his grave.

Why is Moses more important than Abraham in the Jewish religion?

Some believe Moses is more important than Abraham in the Jewish religion. Moses is a more prominent figure because he was given the law and wrote part of the Torah under the inspiration of Holy Ghost.

Do the people in the Islam believe in Allah or more gods?

Muslims believe in one God: Allah. He is the God of Abraham in the Old Testament account. Islam, like Christianity are Abrahamic religions that grew out of Judaism. All three religions believe in the same God, the original God of the Hebrew peoples. Jews generally believe the Messiah has not yet come and that Jesus, who was a practicing Jew, is not the Messiah but a learrn-ed teacher and Rabbi. Muslims believe Jesus to be a prophet, but also believe Muhammed was the last and greatest prophet. Christians of course, for the post part consider Jesus to be the Messiah. Allah is simply the Arabic word for God.

What were Judaism's most important laws?

Who founded Judaism and Christianity?

Abraham founded Judaism. The apostles (particularly Paul) founded Christianity. __________________________________________________________ God, the Creator, founded Judaism and Christianity through His revelations of the Torah to prophet Moses and the New Testament to prophet Jesus (peace be upon them). The call of all God's prophets is to submit to God the Creator as the One and only one God with no partner, no companion, no associate, and no equivalent. Refer to question below for more information.

Who is Mohamed to Muslims?

Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) is not God, Allah is. Prophet Muhammad was the last prophet in this world and no more prophets came after him. His book, The Holy Quran was the last holy book in this world, there were, are or will be any more holy books. There were, are or will be NO more prophets. Prophet Muhammad was and still is an example to all Muslims. He used to pray for his enemies. Prophet Muhammad is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY important.

What basic belief made Christianity different from judaism?

Main Difference: The MessiahChristianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. The Jewish faith predicts the coming of the Messiah. Christians believe that Christ was that Messiah, it is just that people of the Jewish faith have not realized that yet.As the Messiah Christ fulfilled God's promise and salvation became perfect through belief in him rather than imperfect in people trying to keeping to the Jewish Law.The one main belief that made Christianity different from Judaism was the belief that Jesus the Son of Mary and the Son of God was the long looked for Messiah that the Bible predicted. Judaism does not believe the Messiah has come. Many Other Core DifferencesThe majority of core tenets found in Christianity completely go against the teachings of Judaism.Examples of tenets that Judaism doesn't accept:The Christian concept of salvation and graceThe concept of original sinThe concept of damnationThe concept of heaven and hellThe existence of the devilThe Christian concept of of messiahThe concept of the trinityPraying through intermediariesThe concept of a literal child of GodThe idea that one man can atone for the sins of anotherThese are just some examples, there are far more differences between Judaism and Christianity.

Why does Israel need a Messiah?

Israel does not NEED a Messiah. Israel looks forward longingly to the Messiah. Judaism teaches that a Man should do everything in his power to achieve Divakut, a perfect cleaving to God and the Divine Will. The Messiah brings the Kingdom of God to the Earthly plane making this cleavage far easier and far more natural. The strictures of the Jewish religion will no longer be necessary in the Messianic Age because the connection to God that they are intended to foster will occur without them.
