The University of Phoenix has the preferred regional accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission as a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Therefore the coursework and degree completed through this institution of higher learning will be recognized by all other colleges and universities as well as employers. The Secretary of Education does not accredit colleges and universities, the accrediting agencies do. The question is whether the Secretary of Higher Education recognizes the regional accreditation, and yes the secretary does.
