Yes, it was. It was the most powerful and devastating weapon imaginable at the time it was used. It was known that not only the explosion itself but also the resulting radiation would be very destructive. Debates about the use of these weapons will continue for many generations. Whatever one's position, it can be argued that those bombs did hasten the end of the war.
jasmine waz so was emmanuel Norman lol
No, the goal was much the same, the effects were much the same, only the means and costs were different. One atomic bomb delivery was far cheaper than one firebombing raid.
Atleast we only had to drop the first 2 of the 23 atomic bombs we had scheduled to manufacture and drop on Japan in 1945. And that stopped the need for firebombing raids too.
atomic bombing
The Blitz, this came as a change of tactics after the battle of Britain in 1940 & 1941. Not to be confused with the Blitzkreig.
it gave Germany's airforce much live training in the tactics of bombing and strafing which was used in WW2
by the settlment
That wasn't actually an episod of Scare Tactics. Is was an episode of Room 401 and i think it was the first or second episode
The Blitz in WW2 refers to the bombing of London & other principal British cities & ports. This was due to a change of emphasis in the attack by the Luftwaffe against the RAF. Had they but known they were actually winning the fight against the RAF by bombing the airfields in SE England. By bombing the industrial targets as they saw them the Germans gave the RAF time to reorganise & change tactics, hopefully the Germans thought, reducing the civillian will to continue in the war. This simply was not the case then, nor was it when the British & US bombed Germany later in the war. (Which raises the question why try to destroy the German civillian will to resist when the Germans were unable to reduce the British ?) The trerm Blitz should not be confused with Blitzkreig which is the 'Lightning war', a combination of Panzer and Luftwaffe tactics.
For the Vietnam, they used hit and run tactics, and also dug tunnels and had dug outs so that they could easily transport weapons without being seen. The Vietcong also had a large view and sense of the land because it was their own. The US. used bombing tactics. We would bomb them all night. Ninja tactics!!
The USA. The American 15th air force bombed the city of Belgrade this way, killing about one to two thousand civilians and about a dozen military. I'm not aware of any other military using carpet bombing tactics in world war two.
theres no technology in world war 1 lol :)
The insurgent coalition that may use different approaches at different times when applying tactics that take the best advantage of circumstances is the Marine Corps Counterinsurgency.
Indiscriminate bombing of innocent people. And knee-capping when someone who has upset the IRA is shot through the knee as a punishment.
