There are a static abilities called Deathtouch and first strike. Deathtouch kills instantly and first strike allows a creature to hit an enemy before they can hit them. I have seen enchantments such as Bound in Silence and Cowed by Wisdom that put the creature out of play for X turns or until the owner pays mana. I usually play mono-white so i don't know much about other colors.

There is alot of card that can destroy and exile creatures. When a creature is destroyed it is put into it's owners graveyard. When it is exiled it is removed from the game.
