An ethernet cable may look like a phone cable but it is not and would not serve any purpose to connect one to your phone line. The Cable modem has an ethernet cable as an output to a PC, router, or other device and not an input to provide internet access

Why is there no dial tone on your Comcast phone?

There are a number of possible causes. First, make sure that the telephone is securely plugged into the jack, and that both ends of the telephone wire from the cable modem to the telephone jack are plugged in properly. Then make sure that the coaxial cable is securely plugged into the cable modem and that the cable modem is plugged in and receiving power. The next step is to unplug the electrical power from the cable modem for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in. If none of those steps resolves the problem, then you will have to call Comcast from another phone for further instructions.

Can you connect your PS3 Ethernet cable to a phone jack?

No, while an ethernet cable plug looks like a phone jack cable plug it is actually larger. The PS3 can not be connected to the internet with dial up internet service and an ethernet cable is meant to be connected to a modem or router.

What wires do you need to run from your outside phonebox to your phone jack to connect dsl?

You do not need to run any wires. DSL connects directly to the phone jack. You run phone line from the phone jack to a filter, then to the DSL Modem. You can also install a filter at the interface to eliminate the need for filters inside the home. If you install interior filters, you will need one at each phone jack that is being used by any device. From the modem you can either run USB or Ethernet cable to the computer if the modem is a USB/Ethernet modem. I do not recommend USB. Use the Ethernet if at all possible. The connection is more stable and slightly faster. If your computer has no Ethernet connection, you can install an Ethernet card for as little as $20. Use a good quality Cat5 or Cat6 cable from the Modem to the computer.

What is the first item to check if the modem does not respond?

Make sure the modem is plugged into the phone jack

How do you use a usb cable to connect to your modem?

Your question presupposes that you have subscribed to cable internet service, and that the provider has run a cable to your home. It also presupposes that you have a cable modem. If these suppositions are correct, you just have to run coax between the cable jack on the wall and the cable modem. Then you need to connect the modem to your computer via USB, FireWire, or whatever interface your modem and computer have in common. FriPilot

Why doesnt your xbox 360 cable go into the internet port?

I am assuming the "internet port" you are talking about is the phone jack in the wall of your house? If that is the case, the ethernet cable that comes with your 360 needs to plug into your modem or router which in turn plugs into your "internet port" in the wall of your house. So essentially it goes: wall-mounted phone jack> internet modem or router (most modems come with wireless routers built in)> XBOX 360. Hope this helps.

Which TV jack in your house should be used by your cable modem?

Yes. "You want to use the jack that connects directly to the point where the TV cable comes into you home with no splitters between this jack and the entrance point. Later, if your cable modem connection is constantly going down, you might consider that you've chosen the wrong jack for the connection because an inline splitter can degrade the connection. The cable company that installed the jacks should be able to tell you which jack is best to use for the cable modem."
