I myself have graves disease, which is an over-active thyroid. My medication does treat my condition, and eases symptoms, but the disease itself will never be gone. I have to take medication for the rest of my life.

You have radio isotope of iodine 131. It get concentrated in your thyroid to give very good effect against the thyroid cancer.

Not really. They can remove the thyroid or treat with medications.
