Countertops are generally high enough to provide clearance for a dishwasher and other standard height appliances. The usual height is 36 inches above the floor. Use the final finished height of the floor (i.e. including tile) so that appliances will fit properly.

Standard height from floor to next floor?

the height of mostrooms is 8ft, but to the next floor is 81/2 ft allowing for the floor joists As a carpenter this is incorrect. The stud height in an average home wall is 92 5/8" once you add the 1 1/2" from the bottom plate and 3" for the two top plates you get 97 1/8". Then you must add the floor joice which is refered too as a 2 x 8, the actual measurements are 1 1/2" by 7 1/4" (W by H). Once you add that and a sheet of plywood which is 3/8" to the 97 1/8" you get 104 3/4". The standard height of a wall in a residential house is 104 3/4"

What is the standard height of a counter top from the floor?

There are really two answers. In the case of a bathroom vanity, the standard height has traditionally been 32 inches from finished floor to counter top surface. As we have become taller overall, this has often been increased to 34 inches, as many people find 32 feels too low. In kitchens, the standard remains 36 inches above the floor. Because floors are almost never level, it's common for installers to find the midpoint between the floor's high and low spots in the run of cabinets, and make that point 36 inches. this keeps the extremes from varying too far from the norm.

What is the standard size for a window in a bedroom?

There is no standard size for bedrooms, you will have to actually measure the window itself to get the true dimensions. I found this to be good information but you can find any info on the web regarding this if you search for it ... hIttp://www.doorandwindow.com/meas.html If you are concerned w/privacy and/or security use the old standard of window sill hgt off floor 60 ". But if those are'nt a concern then like the answer above Width and height are totally up to you (within building code limits)
