To remove the crankshaft from a 1988 Toyota Corolla LE first you must remove the engine, hopefully with the help of a professional mechanic. Then you must use a dial indicator to measure the endplay, Pry the crankshaft towards the rear and turn the dial to zero then pry the crankshat to the front as far as you can measuring the endplay afterwards. Using a wrench, loosen the main bearing cap bolts until they can be loosened by hand. Using a soft-faced hammer, gently tap the main bearing cap assembly and pull the cap up and off the cylinder block. Now two people can finally remove the crankshaft from the car.
