I have a 1998 Sable and have not yet found the dash kit / conversion kit that works with the electronic climate control.
This would apply to all 1996-1999 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models with electronic climate control.
Some people have installed a radio into the space below where the ashtray is. Very ambitious project.
Search around the Taurus Car Club site and you'll find some photos of how they did it.
If you have manual climate control, just about any will work but you need to replace the entire radio/climate control panel. New ones can be bought from most car stereo dealers that permit installation of the aftermarket radio. You move your original climate control knobs and controls, and install the new radio to the replacement panel. If you have the automatic climate control, you're stuck. There isn't a replacement panel available to adapt to aftermarket stereos. There are replacements for radios with climate control,, www.sonicelectronix.com had best price about 50 dollars and 14 for shippingSee "Related Questions" below for more
Go herehttp://www.crutchfield.com/p_142F134030/Ford-Mercury-Factory-Stereo-Integration-Package.html?tp=3486Cheers!I have not ever seen one for a Taurus/Sable with electronic climate controls. There are some who have engineered a way to incorporate a stereo into the space under the ashtray. I don't have the link handy, but search around the TaurusCarClub.com site.
Yes .. it's called an EPC (electronic pressure control) and it's operated from pin 38 of the EEC.
Only if you have the electronic climate controls - set a temperature and the system maintains it automatically. See "Related Questions" below for much more about Taurus/Sable heating systems. That might help you get a 'handle' on what your system is, or is not, doing.
If your vehicle has the electronic climate controls, I think the interior temp sensor is behind the small grill area to the right of the radio. That feeds the electronic control the cabin temp so it can then adjust the heater blend door, fan speeds and duct positioning. I found my interior temp sensor was not mounted to the radio/climate controls dash panel - pulled the panel loose and snapped it back into place. Hope this is what the question is referencing - otherwise... See "Related Questions" below for more about Taurus/Sable heater controls & more
Unless you have the electronic climate control that automatically adjusts the temperature based on cabin temps, there really is not a "heater and cooler sensor" on the Taurus/Sable.See "Related Questions" below for much more about these heating/cooling systems... these may help you get a better handle one that nature of your problem. And if not a fix, post a new question based on this new information.
No, it does not. It's all electronic.
I'm not sure about the *switch* itself, but the oval dash panel that holds the controls come off just like removing a Ford radio. See "Related Questions" below for more NOTE: for the electronic climate controls, the dash panel is all there is - the electronic circuits and controls are fully contained on that dash panel.
According to page #104, fuse #24 covers the: Integrated control panel, speedometer, electronic automatic temperature control module.See "Related Questions" below for more
You may have a real hard time finding the dashkit for a car with the electronic climate controls - I have not heard of anyone finding one for the 1996-1999 generation of Taurus/Sable, including my own efforts.See "Related Questions" below for another discussion on dashkits
They have exhausts for The Taurus from 92-99 and '10 Use chat online to ask about installation.
All electrical circuits in a vehicle have a fuse or circuit breaker somewhere. There are possibly three in the Taurus AC circuit plus a fan relay, a fan speed control module, and a climate control computer.
