No, there is no special tool. The bolt that holds the fan clutch on is a reverse thread. Once that is removed, along with the fan blades, you can remove the fan by unbolting it from the fan clutch. I had a miserable time getting my fan off of the car. What a local mechanic told me, which is what I did, was put a wrench on the nut and smack it with a hammer until it loosens up. Remember to whack it to the right because of the reverse threading! Hope that helps, Mr_Dog A strap wrench will assist in holding the pulley stationary while trying to break the nut loose.
