sometimes there is just a certain way that you have to move the start but on my cj the easyiest thing to do is to just take off the front drive shaft and the starter should come out very easy if that dont work then just move it around different ways it will come out
disconnect battery, lift car, unbolt starter with 9/16 socket two bolts on the rear of the starter. unbolt bracket on the front of the starter with 1/2 inch socket. disconnect battery cable from starter and the S wire from the starter. reverse order to install. make sure every thing is tight. if the starter wont drop out past the exhaust as on some models remove exhaust pipe at the flange above the starter and loosen exhaust flange on drivers side.

I looked up the 1995 Lincoln Town Car on one of the Ford websites and the drawings show that the starter flange has ( 2 bolts )
