Is there a way to stop att aka cingular from sending the time and number of text messages with the bill?

Yes, just call customer care, if you have a detailed bill, this feature can be removed. The only information showing on the bill will be the total number of text messages sent during the billing cycle. PS The numbers, times and so on can still be viewed online through your mywireless account.
