with the key off, set the parking brake, that disables drl (daytime running lights). you can now turn the ign on and drl wont be on. you can now listen to radio etc w/o killing battery.
the sensor is in the post behind the drivers door at the bottom , this sensor turns your headlights on in daylight mode when car is started but it is not the sensor that turns them on brighter ( or the dash lights ) automatically when dark
yes. it has a sensor on the dashboard up close to the windshield. when the light is low enough, your headlights turn on automatically
If it's doing this while the vehicle is running, it would be because the daytime running light system of the Grand Am included the instrument panel lights. Prior to the daylight sensor becoming standard, on some GM products, only the headlights were part of the daytime running lights system, while on others, it included all the lights.
I believe there should be a photo sensor on the top of the dash, normally on the passenger side. I had the same problem with my Chevy Tracker lights. I lifted the sensor cover and unplugged it then put the cover back on.
The Kia Sorrento instrument panel lights go on and off with the headlights. The headlights go on with an automatic daylight sensor.
AnswerI assume that you mean why won't the headlights turn off when I turn them off at night. The 98 Malibu has a light sensor that automatically turns on the head lights when it senses a low light condition. Unless there is sufficient light from some other source directed at this sensor, the head lights will not turn off when you turn them off using the switch on the dash panel. They will only go off when the head light switch is in the lights off position and the car is shut off.The only other way to turn the headlights off while the vehicle is running in low-light conditions, is to set the parking brake prior to starting the vehicle. This will prevent both Headlights and Day-Time Running lights from turning on when the vehicle is running.
In the owners manual it tells you how to turn off the daytime running lights and I think the dusk feature on headlights if not you could remove the relay for the dusk feature.
No, it's not normal. Some 2003 Vibe's have automatic headlights triggered by a light sensor. If you leave the headlight switch in the middle setting between "on" and "off" they will come on by themselves when it's dark. If you turn them off the daytime running lights will still come on and the high beams will still work but the headlights won't come on automatically at night.
There is a light sensor located at the top middle of the dashboard, near the windshield. This will turn your lights on automatically if the lights are not manually turned on. However, if you drive under some street lights or a bright area, it can read this as daylight and turn the lights off. To avoid this, always make sure that your lights are manually turned on at night. This sensor also effects the interior lights. They should not automatically come on during the day if it is working properly.
If it is in the center of the dash near the windshield it should be a headlight sensor for day time running lights
where is the running light sensor on a 2003 grand marque
The daytime running light (DRL) module may be defective. If the lights are activated by the sensor at all, that eliminates the DRL fuse from being faulty.
