yes, hurst has about 3 of them that will work and there are a couple other companies out there also, look on the summit racing website.
remove access plate on floor around shifter, 4 bolts hold the shifter onto the trans.
Well this depends on the vehicle, some are located on the sterring colom next to the bottom, if its colom shift, if it has a floor shifter in it it can be in the consol under the shifter, or located on the transmission itself. If you can run the shifter down through the positions it may have broken loose at the transmission . If the shifter doesn't move at all it may be a problem in the steering column < unless it is a floor shifter >. If it is a floor shift model I'd start by checking the shifter release button to see if it is broken.
Almost any vehicle that came with a standard (manual) transmission, 3, 4, 5 speed can be changed over to automatic. You may have to incorporate an aftermarket floor shifter in order to make it work. recommend 700R4 TH350 or 400 trans be installed. Takes less to operate and very reliable.
The short answer is yes. It is an involved process and leads to cutting of the floor to allow for the shifter, but a transmission is a transmission and as long as it will mount to the engine it can be installed. Kinda costly though.
Cable is installed with a bracket to usually two pan bolts on the transmission it is then routed through a hole in the floor to the shifter. Pretty easy job.
Remove carpet/floor covering Then there should be screws holding the rubber boot covering the shifter Remove screws to remove boot Shifter should be secured to transmission by bolts after removal shifter should be able to be lifted from transmission Then you can possibly see problem. Perhaps fork has just slipped from shifter
Automatic Floor Shifter - 25 results like the 6423 Shifter Automatic, B & M 81011 Street Rod Shifter Auto Trans Shifter Kits, 3160009 Quarter Stick Shifter ...
Both. The Monte Carlo SS had a floor shifter (what I own), but the regular monte's had column shift
yes but you will have to change steering column for one with an automatic shifter and have the driveshaft shortened to accomidate the longer transmission you could also use a floor shifter hurst makes a good one
a part of a car
Transmission types can be changed. However, a clutch pedal along with its bracket and linkage will have to be added along with the shifter assembly. Holes may have to be cut in the firewall or floor, and the transmission mounting areas will have to be moved for the new transmission.
