You can't search for Cape Cod airport because Cape Cod itself isn't a city). Generally, in the summer, there are lots of flights. But they are booked pretty far in advance and the cost is outrageous. Very often, that leg will be 3-4 times the cost of the flight from your original destination. Sometimes you get lucky, though.
If you're looking for a better fly/drive combo, I'd suggest one of two things:
Fly to Boston and rent a car from there.
Fly into TF Green Airport in Providence and drive from there. It's actually a really nice airport and not a bad drive at all.
