The use of the Birth Control pill can extend the length of time before a period occurs, this can vary a lot but is usually around 1 period every year. This is achieved by continuously taking the pill without the 28 day cycle of breaks. This was just added to make women "feel more comfortable" as the guys who decided thought a woman would freak out at no longer having periods. There is no added risk by continuously taking the pill so you only get your period at a much less frequent rate. If you are already on the pill I would suggest not having a period every month, why would you not just ask your doctor about it. All the ones I ask act as if you should be doing it already they just don't tell you unless you ask for some reason.
