== == * All of the Protestant churches subscribe to your requirements of no purgatory or statues... Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopalian ... the basic Christian churches == == * Most religions fit those criteria. If you're talking about Christian religions, then most Protestant (i.e. non-Catholic) religions will fit. If you are a disillusioned Catholic, you may want to check out the Episcopalian church, which have similar services, minus the features you object to. Also non-denominational Christian Churches fit this. Non-denominational isn't affiliated with any particular group of Christians and is for anyone and not for one particular type of person.

* Very few religions in general fit these criteria. The key is to read the Bible itself. The Apostle Paul says for a Christian to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. There is no intermediate state. Again in Hebrews we read that we die and after that comes the judgment. There is no 2nd chance after death. I get pretty tired of ignorant people taking swats at the Catholic religion for "worshiping statues". Please! We only worship God! Mary, Mother of Jesus and therefore our mother, is to be honored...not worshiped. Saints are respected as human beings who have given their lives to God, or perhaps given their lives FOR God. Before speaking nonsense, get the facts straight. Answer 2

== == In general Almost every religion on this planet would fit the profile as to what you speak of (past and present), religions such as Confucianism, Taoism, Zoroastrianism, Jainism and any religion that is spiritually based on humanism is what your looking for.

Yes Jehovah's Witnesses. Yet another answer: Any reasonably thinking person who believes anything Jesus Christ said, understands that only the perfect can lay their eyes on God. Anything unclean or spotted with sin will surely not be able to stand before the Glory of God. Who of us is so perfect that we should be allowed into His Kingdom in the state of sin...and we all are stained with sin unless we are innocent children or otherwise not guilty of conscious sin. Therefore, if we are truly evil and unrepentant, Hell is the place we, ourselves, have chosen. If we are among the few perfectly sinless souls, Heaven is our instant reward. However, realisticly speaking, can the great majority of us walk blithely into Heaven without a second thought? We gossip, we curse, we fight, we do many things every day of our lives that don't deserve Hell, but certainly do not deserve a Heavenly welcome mat. That leaves Purgatory, or a place where our souls are "purged" from our daily sinful living, so that when we do enter into God's Kingdom, we are pure and clean and worthy of being in His Presence. And...no one is talking about a second chance after death. Your only chance for Heaven is to conduct yourself well while you're here on Earth. Purgatory isn't a second chance...it's the place we get purified.
