That would be found in the connection settings in control panel if you are using a PC
The DSL modem that qwest provides to each customer is going to be the best modem because it is up to date in software.
Yes you take the internet access from the modem to the computer and move it to the router so the router can allow more access than just to the computer. In the back of the router there are spots for ethernet cables only one is a input and that comes from the modem and should be connected. There should also be 4 or more outputs and one then gets connected to the computer. You will need to buy more ethernet cables. Internet comes from your DSL modem and you need to disconnect your computer to allow the router to be installed. Your computer and anything else is then connected to the router
You first need to sign up for an Internet Service Provider (ISP). They will hook you up with service and give you a cable or dsl modem. From there, install the cable or dsl modem, install the software they gave you on your computer, plug in the cable or dsl modem. you know should have HIGH SPEED!
You do not need a dial-up modem. However, you will need to either purchase or rent a DSL modem, which works differently from a dial-up modem, and is usually outside the computer.
You don't. You plug the mini modem into your computer via USB.
Use a DSL modem....
I dont think so. Some providers only allow the customer to use the provider's modem; others allow the customer to use any DSL modem, as long as it's compatible with the provider's DSL network.
Connecting Internet throgh DSL Modem by using Ethernet port is the most rreliable & trusted way to get the best performance on a computer. Using DSL through USB makes system slow & doesn't provide the best of the available bandwidth. Moreover Through Ethernet DSL Modem can enable access to multiple computers by using a network switch.
You will need to buy a new modem that is designed for your DSL modem. This is due to the fact that the modem is designed to use the dsl signal opposed to the cable modem.
A modem, which you normally get from the DSL provider, is really the only thing you need (apart from a computer). But it is recommended to get a home router/firewall as well, it gives basic protection against computer attacks from the internet and lets you hook up a second computer to the same DSL connection.See related Wikipedia link.
It's not that it makes the Internet respond, it makes your DSL modem respond. Occasionally DSL and Cable modems will become unresponsive for whatever reason. Disconnecting and reconnting the Internet connection cable is one way to "wake up" the modem. Often that doesn't work and you have to reboot the computer or power-cycle the modem. Annoying but sometimes necessary. The way my ISP, who gave me my DSL modem to use, explained it is that, like a computer, every now and then, the modem just needs to be reset or rebooted, much like your computer
Yes, DSL requires a DSL modem as well as an Ethernet port to your PC or laptop.
