The concept of multiculturalism and multinationals is a nonsense invented by politicians and their consultant to bring in votes and spend taxpayer's money on things that will take care of them selves. I was born in Indonesia moved to the Netherlands at about 4 1/2 then immigrated to Australia with my parents. so I came from 3 different cultures. We took with us what we wanted from these cultures. Mainly eating habits, some ethical attitudes, and a few colourful festival types of things linger for about a generation. And they are fun. My Kids are hardly interested in this and why should they be. Why should taxpayer pay the government for promoting these things? A cosmopolitan environment is great because it enable one to enjoy the foods attitudes (where they are good) and textures of many places without having to leave the country but it should happen spontaneously not at the behest of a govt department.
Multiculturalism calls for the respect of different cultural backgrounds that exist within a state. Initially, it called for acceptance of cultural differences, while the groups still maintained a separate culture within the country. Modern day multiculturalism is usually defined as the assimilation different cultures into one collective melting pot.
The arguments of multiculturalism tend to vary depending on what country one is referring to. Many people oppose multiculturalism as it is believed to bring in too many different ethnic practices and habits. Many believe that it is okay for a community or country to be multicultural as long as the laws and practices of the country are respected by all.
One advantage of multiculturalism is the opportunity for individuals to learn about and appreciate different cultures, leading to greater understanding and acceptance of diversity.
A country is a geopolitical entity. A country may have one uniform culture among it's people from border to border. But, much more commonly, a country can be host to several different cultures, or cultural variants. Cultures within a country sometimes vary dramatically from one area of the country to another. Think of a country as a house people live in. Think of cultures as the room decorations. One room belongs to the 12 year old daughter. Her cultural taste will have her room decorated vastly different than her 20 year old, college student, egghead brother. And his room will be decorated much differently than the parents room.
