Unitarianism is not a Christian faith because it does not espouse belief in the doctrine of the trinity of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. Instead, Unitarians believe in a single personality of God, grouping the three members above into one deity. The trinity is an essential doctrine for being considered a Christian faith, as outlined in the Nicene Creed of A.D. 325. All Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christians believe in the Trinity.

Answer

Yes, Unitarians are Christians. However, Unitarianism is a theological

movement, named for its understanding of God as one person, in direct contrast to Trinitarianism (or those who who believe in the Trinity), which defines God as three entities coexisting together as one being entity. Unitarians maintain that Jesus was a prophet, and in some sense the "son" of God, but not God himself. Unitarianism is also known for the rejection of several conventional Christian doctrines besides the Trinity, including the philosophy of the original sin and predestination. Unitarianism is classified among "the 'liberal' family of churches". The Unitarian movement, although not called "Unitarian" initially, began almost simultaneously in Poland-Lithuania and Transylvania in the mid-sixteenth century. Among the adherents were a significant number of Italians. In England the first Unitarian Church was established in 1774.

Additional Information

It is worth noting that the Unitarian position is a minority position within Christianity and is not recognized as a valid theology by the Catholic, Orthodox, Coptic, Armenian Apostolic, Ethiopian Tawhedo, or Syriac Churches. It also the minority position among Protestants, especially among Calvinists and Evangelicals.

No. Unitarians are a certain minority of Protestant Christian groups which reject the historic Ecumenical Christian teachings of Trinitarianism. While it is true that Unitarians are usually considered Christians, the overwhelming majority of Christians are not Unitarians. As a result, the terms do not mean the same thing.

Additionally, most Christians believe that Unitarian Universalists, a subgroup of Unitarians, have pared down Christianity so much that they ae effectively a form of strong Agnoticism or Atheism as opposed to Christianity.

What religion were all the presidents?

All U.S. Presidents have been of the Christian faith (of varying degrees). Of all Christian denominations, there have been more Episcopalian U.S. Presidents than any other. NOTE: Some Presidents merely had a Christian preference but never claimed membership to the church they attended. Also, there have been five Presidents with either Unitarian membership or preference. Though many Christian churches don't consider Unitarianism as being a "real" Christian faith, the Unitarian church of yesteryear fell in line with what most Christian beliefs are today --save, perhaps, the notion of the Trinity.
