  • Schindler was a complex man and no one will ever truly know why he helped save as many Jewish people as he could. One theory is he had a conscience and was brought up by his parents as a Catholic and knew what was right and what was wrong and their neighbors were Jewish. Schindler saved many children from the death camps by insisting to Hitler he needed the children for the munitions factory, but all the children were doing were packing empty shell casings. This helped the children from being exterminated. It is a myth that all Germans backed Hitler and it is the Schindler's of that era that made a big difference and he had the fortitude and money to do the right thing.
