It takes two people to solve this question quickly. 1- have someone check for voltage at the starter main feed AS you turn the key, if there is voltage, replace the starter.. 2- If no voltage is present, replace the IGNITION switch, NOT, the key tumbler!!! If this vehicle is a standard shift, which I doubt, you could have a faulty clutch switch. daner@copper.net
What happens when you turn the key? Does it turn over but not start, or does it do absolutely nothing? Are there clicking noises or humming when you turn the key but nothing else? Be more specific please.
There is absolutely no action, noise, clicking sounds at all. The dash lights up, radio will go on but no action at all. There is nothing else…, truck won't turn over. Theft light keeps blinking and yes I do have the clutch and brake engaged.
Have you recently change plugs...wires..etc? Sounds like it's out of time. If the plug wires aren't installed correctly this will happen. Could also be a bad coil or Ignition Control Module. I'd start with these things first.
could be neutralsafety switch or clutch pedal switch.
sounds like the starter
If the car turns over, gets gas and just will not start try the ignition module. CAR TURNS OVER
First check for fire at any of the sparkplugs and if you have spark then check your fuel pressure and if its not within specs then replace the pump.
Fuel, or spark. Most likely fuel. Now, is it the pump, or the filter.
Check for fuel and spark.
FUEL PRESSURE REGULATER
It has either . jumped timing
security lock out had same problem with our 2004 grand am
this is what ours was doing we are told it is the fuel pump. we are having ours replaced.
we have the 1999 pontiac grand am 2.4 liter water pump went out, so we replaced the water pump. alls good there but for some reason now the car turns over but will not start. Please help us troubleshoot this issue. Thank you, Amy and Jesse
Out of gas? 99 vw passat will not start but turns over have full gas tank try to turn over
sounds like injectors
If the car will not start after replacing the battery, then the battery was not the problem. If it will not turn over, you may have a bad starter or bad connection. If it turns over but will not start you either have no fuel or no spark. You will have to determine which.
Check for spark at the plugs. Check to see if there is fuel pressure. If both of these are ok check ignition timing.
turns over strong. might start and run for a couple of blocks but then dies.
If the car turns over, gets gas and just will not start try the ignition module. CAR TURNS OVER
Sometimes my sons 2001 Grand Am does that. It has to do with the Security System. Turn the key to ACC the Security light will start blinking and will continue to do so for 10 minutes. At that time the Security Light will stay on. At that point you can start you car. This works for him Good Luck.
it turns into a old man
