yes you are correct, they go out and have to be replaced either by getting one from junk yard or internet guages are sold there $ 100.00 each.
Bad temperature sending unit? Bad gauge?
transmission goes into gear but wont hardly move
check your fuses for both problems.
The child safety window lock-out switch is on.
we checked the fuel pump and its good???
What was the repair? Sounds like they did more harm than good. Could be disconnected. If not, there may be a blown fuse or (worse) a blown resistor in the gauge.
There is a sending unit laocated at the fuel pump that sends info to the gas gauge. This can malfunction with no reason at all. I am betting that this is the reason since your gauge still moves. If the gauge is bad usually it wont move at all and is not a common thing now a days anyway. The sending unit is more common. Hope this helps.
If the 1996 Dodge Intrepid will not start, there might be an issue with the battery or the starter. This could also be a problem with the solenoid or the fuel gauge or fuel pump. The problem and the fix will vary depending on whether the car is completely dead or is cranking when the ignition is turned.
check your ground wire to the gauge
If it gets to hot the thermostat wont work. you need to repace it and the gauge will work again.
do you have gas in the tank
only 3 reasons a temp gauge wont work the temp sender is bad the gauge is bad or the wire from temp sender to gauge is broken
