yes
60,000 Mls. is recommended by Daewoo.
compression check The Daewoo Lanos has an interference engine, if the timing belt failed, there is a strong possibility the pistons hit valves before the engine stopped completely. First perform a compression test, if the valves are bent they will not seal properly and the compression readings will be low. Keep in mind if the timing belt is broken or not installed correctly, this could cause cylinders to have low compression also. Inspect with a fiber optic borescope through the spark plug holes, look for impressions in the piston tops. The fiber optic borescope can help by giving an indication of the damage that may have occured without disassembly.
Yes If you know that it is broke don't attempt to start it or you cause more harm if harm isn't already caused
About $300.00 in Denver, Colorado
valves do retreat into heads that is why a clearance should be just cqause a gap wont show it still needs it
went on line eBay and got a set of intake and exhaust valves for about 96 dollars got a gasket set also for around 40 domestic gasket was the sell
REPLY TO QUESTION: Does attempting to start a Daewoo Lanos 1.6L with a broken timing belt damage valves?" It depends on how badly damaged the belt is. if all the teeth are still attached to the belt and you havent sheard them off already then it could damgae the valves due to the fact the timing belt may still turn from the crank and turn the camshaft. that would be the case if the belt has strecthed and jumped a tooth on the gears. then dont attempt to start. Now if all the teeth are sheard off the belt down by the crank then the belt has no way of turning so in that case the crank will turn from the starter but it will not turn the camshaft if that is the case then it wont damage the valves. Dear Daewoo owner, As an experinced ASE cerified automotive techinican this is my opinion on the situation. ALL BROKEN TIMING BELTS ON DAEWOOS WILL CAUSE CYLINDER HEAD DAMAGE. If your crankshaft is turning, that means the pistons are going up and down in the cylinder bore, you will have atleast 3 or 4 valves all the way open the piston will hit the fully open valves and bend them if not completely break them off. I have put atleast 20 to 30 cyl. heads on Daewoos due to broken timing belts. every daewoo that breaks a t-belt will bend valves Yes and we found out the hard way.... Kabang!
Daewoo Lanos was created in 1997.
First line up the 2 notches on both cams and lock them in place with a cam lock tool. Then put only the gear from the harmonic balancer back on and line up the marks. Once everything is set, carefully put the belt on. If it isn't in time, you could damage the valves.
There is NO TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK on the Daewoo Lanos
we need the engine specifications on the daewoo lanos 1.5 liters
How do you remove steering wheel daewoo lanos
