There are a lot of them. I will give you a few. As an aside, Wikipedia is good for this, also Amazon or, perhaps, Alibris. James Thurber was one of my favorite authors when I was a kid. He wrote about goofy animals and crazy families, I had both. J.R.R. Tolkein was MANY peoples' favorite author when I was a kid. He wrote "The Hobbit." Leo Tolstoy remains a favorite of many people now. He wrote "War and Peace," and "Anna Karenina," among others. From the latter we get the phrase "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. " While I would disagree with this (I do not think many happy families exist), you cannot beat him as a writer. You can, however, probably add to this list. But not more decisively.
