There is actually 3 blend doors on the plenum. The blend door actuator is on the top of the case. It controls heat and cold air.

Sounds like the temp blend door gears are stripped. It could be caused by something jamming the door from moving. The dash assembly would have to be removed to gain access to the blend door and blend door actuator.
