A '99 Intrepid doesn't use a distributor, so no cap and rotor.
When I tuned up my 99. I changed, plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor and ignition coil. To my knowledge that is about all you can do. I would by the cap and rotor from the dealer. I made the mistake of not doing that and had problems with the aftermarket cap and rotor getting corroded.
A six pack of beer and alot of patience
Bad ignition coil?
No
As your looking at the engine it is to the left of the distributor cap.
To change the distributor cap and rotor button on a 1999 5.7 Vortec engine, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Remove the distributor cap by unscrewing the retaining screws and carefully lifting it off, noting the wire positions for reassembly. Then, take out the old rotor button by unscrewing it from the distributor shaft. Install the new rotor button and distributor cap, reconnect the wires in their original positions, and finally reconnect the battery.
Check the coil and replace if bad. Should fix the problem.
A misfire is typically due to an ignition issue such as plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Since yours does not have a cap and rotor, I would suspect a bad plug or wire.
The fuel pressure regulator is built into the top of the fuel pump module in the tank.
If you have the 2.2 L engine in that 99 S10, there is no distributor in that vehicle. It has a DIS (Distributorless Ignition System).
May just need a good tune-up- Wires, cap-rotor,spark plugs That will probley fix your problem.
There is no fuel pump inertia switch on a 1999 Dodge Intrepid.
