Had this same problem on the same vehicle. After a few trips to the mechanic, I decided to replace the radiator cap ($2.99 @ your local store). The problem was solved. It seems there is a seal on the cap that holds a vacuum in the colling system. This allows the coolant to flow into and out of the reservoir. If the cap is faulty (and from my mechanic friends, I learned that this happens more frequently than not) the vacuum does not hold and the flow of the coolant back into the radiator does not happen as it should. Hope this helps!
The radiator cap could be the cause of coolant reservoir overflow or backup. Have the cap checked to see if it is bad.
The coolant level is checked at the coolant tank in the passenger front corner of the engine compartment . The coolant level should be up to the cold mark when the engine is cold . The radiator should be full so its covering the top plate .
Radiator coolant.
Coolant goes in the radiator or you can also fill the radiator resevoir.
Low coolant, radiator restriction.Low coolant, radiator restriction.
In systems that do not have a radiator cap, the coolant is drained by the radiator drain plug. It is filled by adding coolant to the system through the overflow bottle.
If an engine light is still on after replacing a fan's radiator sensor in a RFW engine the coolant sensor should also be checked. If the coolant sensor is bad it will send an error code to the car's computer.
Replace the coolant, thermostat, turn off the A/c, in emergencies drive with the heater on, increase the air flow through the radiator, have your radiator checked for blockage.
If the radiator is cracked then the vehicle has ran dry on coolant. This would cause the radiator to crack if there wasn't any coolant.
You add coolant to a C240 at the radiator overflow tank. This allows the radiator to suck in coolant as needed when hot.
No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure. No, the system is only checked at normal operating pressure.
One flushes a radiator by draining the radiator, rincing the radiator, and then by adding a new coolant. One should remember that the drained coolant is toxic.
