Type your answer here... If it goes away after 1 min or so, seems to last longer in the winter/cooler temps, the noise is the hydraulic/clutch fan. Situation normal, as soon as it warms up, it gets quiet to save fuel milage.
when you try to start it then it's the starter.

When this happened to me it was the three vacuum hoses on the transfer case switch were on wrong. There is a nipple on the switch and a hole in the vacuum hoses.
ON the 2006 impala that whining noise is actually the electronics when you accelerate. Its more or less electronic pulses/signals My 06 Impala is the same.
A front popping on the left of a 98 Blazer could be the brakes, steering, or wheel bearing. Check all three to find the cause.

It could be an axel bearing but noises have to be heard to be correctly diagnoised.
It could be one of your front axels aka cv joints. I have replaced mine three times.
