Britain was seizing American trade ships bound for other countries and robbing them of there goods. This was crippling the American economy and it gave the war hawks the last little push they needed to convince the country to go to war. However, this is ironic because the resulting war damaged the economy worse than before the war. In fact the only real battle the Americans won was in Louisiana. A victory won after a peace treaty had already been signed but hadn't yet reached America. In this war our capital and White House were burnt. The only thing that saved the city and the house was a torrent of rain that sprang up from seemingly nowhere and lasted for hours.

The American decision to start a war was based on three complaints: the Royal Navy's impressment of sailors on American ships on the high seas, other interference with American shipping directly related to Britain's war with Napoleon, and British help for natives trying to protect their homeland against American encroachment.

There was also a strong feeling among the "War Hawks" in Congress that they could forcibly annex Canada, Thomas Jefferson calling it "merely a matter of marching." That turned out to be an expensive and bloody error.

Answer:

Throughout human history most bloodshed has come from Rome The government that fell as well as the ROMAN Catholic Church murdering Christians in the inquisition, (See foxes book of martyers) as well as Islam(see any news cast) Most wars going on in the World today are either directly or indirectly influenced by Rome or Islam so its a safe bet that the war of 1812 was tied to one of these two religions in some way.
