It usually does more harm than good. Not only is the process torturous and deadly for the animals involved (i.e. open heart surgery performed on dogs without anesthesia, brain fluid extracted from cats, burns inflicted on rabbits, dyes and chemicals injected into the eyes of animals etc) but it also does little to further the medical community. Many tests are repeated numerous times by different companies because their is no reporting database so tests often get duplicated a multitude of times. Furthermore, companies are legally allowed to do the test over and over until they get the desired result. So, say if a company is testing the safety of a chemical in a household cleaner and 50% of the rabbits die, they can keep running the same test (or dilute the amount of the chemical) until they get the legal amount of deaths so they can put the product on the market. It is not protecting us, just getting them past legal hurdles at the expense of animal lives. Moreover, we now have things like artificial skin which makes it unnecessary to perform these tests on living subjects. I hope that answers your question!

Animal testing can be good. It helps prevent dieseases, cancer, and what not, but only in non-human animals. But the most dangerous things on animal testing is, well, death itself.

Medical testing on animals, at best, may be a necessary evil. A lot of us still don't like it.

You English by the way could use some improvement.

What are the effects of medical use on animals?

some animals are burned because of the chemicals, blinded, maimed, and even killed. most are killed after the testing is over anyway. America should really be doing more to protect animals

What is the purpose of animal testing?

Many animals are dieing and that is were animal testing the animals comes in for good purpose. The purpose of improving human life instead of sacrificing a human you give up an animal. There are so many animals in the world and animals are still producing more. Think about it "It's you or the animal."

What is more important animal testing for cosmetic products or animal testing for medical products?

Neither is more important than another because animals have a different genetic makeup than humans so in the end most tests that are successful on animals are not successful on humans. For example, penicillin kills guinea pigs and has no effect on rabbits

What is the difference between cosmetic animal testing and medical animal testing?

NO!!!! all animal testing and is wrong! We all must stop using products that have been tested on animals. Just stop animal testing. use natural producst. Ask someone at stores where you buy your stuff were the natural/products not tested on animals! Medicine is slightly acceptable but cosmetic testing is down right wrong.

Do more animals die from animal testing or the pound?

How many animals are abused every day in the U.S.?

about 100 animals have been abused in the entire united states.=actually there are more because there are 12 animals used for only animal testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So if there are 12 for testing there must be more due to testing is practically suffering of innocent animals FYI,,, suffering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=

Why is animal testing good for humans?

it's good because it means humans don't suffer and it will benfit us for years as due to animal testing we have learnt more about illness and we know how to cure them. also you dont have to ask for the animals permisson to use them.

Advantage and Disadvantages of Animal Testing?

Reasons For Animal TestingMedical Advancement: The most obvious advantage of animal testing is for medical experimentation. Advancements in medicine help people, animals, and even plants. Unfortunately, the best way to test potentially new medicines is through animal testing, and if initially successful, then by human testing too. It is considered more humane to do medical testing on animals first, then on humans first, for the obvious reason that human life is considered more precious than animals. Additionally, new medicines can also help animals too, so this falls under the philosophy of the needs of the many (animals) outweigh the needs of the few (animals). Meaning the few animals that are sacrificed or tested upon is worth less than the many animals that are potentially saved or helped, thus helping the greater good is more morale. Of course, this opinion is subjective to each person.Product Safety: Another popular reason for animal testing is for determining the safety of products, such as cosmetics testing. In theory, animals used for safety testing are typically not killed and remain healthy, however they are often maltreated. Again, it is commonly considered that the safety of people outweighs the safety of animals, thus animal testing for safety is common.Scientific Knowledge: Animal testing and experimentation is an excellent source to increase scientific knowledge. No one knows what knowledge that will be attained through animal testing, so the value of such animal testing cannot be ascertained ahead of time or even guessed. The most common examples of animal experimentation for scientific knowledge are animal biopsies and vivisections in schools to teach children biology and medical procedures. While this type of animal testing might not yield immediate useful results, it has been helpful in the long term of helping science.Accuracy: Finally, the biggest reason for animal testing is because it works better than any other alternative. Why animal testing can yield results different than human testing, the similarities between animals and humans is staggering and thus helpful to mankind.Reasons Against Animal TestingTorture and Suffering: Animals undergoing testing can be subjected to torture and suffering. Alternatively in some cases, some animals may be even cured of their ailments and diseases during the process of animal testing.Death: Animals can, and sometimes often, die in the process of animal testing.Ethics/Morality: The ethics and morality of testing on animals is often debated. A large number of people do not believe animal testing is ethical, however they often concede that it is necessary.Choice: Since animals cannot volunteer for animal testing, then some people believe animal testing is not ethical. These people believe that it is only ethical to test on subjects who willingly give their consent for self testing.Accuracy: As mentioned before, animals are different than people, thus their testing results are not always useful or practical for human comparisons. Therefore, if the usefulness of animal testing is in question, then animal testing should be reconsidered.Price: Finally, the price of keeping and disposing of animals can be quite high. That is why testing, on computer simulations, has increased recently. However, the accuracy of computer simulations is less than animal testing.

Why do animals get used for testing and not humans?

Because it is believed that a human life is more important than an animal's life. People don't think of animals feeling pain, testing on humans seems worse than testing on animals. Most of the products are tested on on humans after they have been tested on animals.

Do scientist's use endangered animals for animal testing?

There isn't any. To do animal testing, you need quite a lot of animals to get reliable results. What happens to ONE animal, once, might just be random. And if something should be discovered later on, someone might need to go back and repeat the tests. Endangered animals are animals that are rare. Either hard to find, or not many left, or both. Ignoring everything else, it'd simply be hugely impractical to use endangered animals for animal testing.
