i think you want a "hard space." press Ctrl+Shift+Space.
It is called non breaking space.You can insert it either using Symbols (Insert - Symbol) or use shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+Space

At the bottom of the page there is a thing which will say 'overtype'. Click on it so it changes to 'insert'.
These are called header. You must go to insert and say header.
If you back to edit something and the word stats dissappearing, press the insert button on your keyboard. this should get rid of the problem. Hope I have helped!
