It is not a must. Plenty of builders out there not using steel. The steel, when run thru your expansion joints will keep the sections from shifting and add strength to the concrete. Wire mesh is a waste of time and money.

What is meant by reinforcement in concrete?

Items used to reinforce concrete are wire mesh, rebar, and steel cables.

What is steel reinforcement for concrete pavement called?

The reinforcement may be in the form of "mesh" or rods. The steel reinforcing rods are colloquially called rebar(reinforcement bars).

Is epoxy required in rebar connections?

Epoxy is not required in rebar connections as concrete and wire are used to hold it in place. Rebar is a reinforcement place inside masonry structures to provide increased strength.

How do you calculate kg of steel reinforcement in one cubic meter concrete?

it would depend entirely on the rebar design.....

How stirrups are fixed in Reinforcement for concrete slab?

I assume they would be tied using tie-wire to the rest of the rebar cage.

What is rebar made of?

Re-bar (reinforced bar) is the metal strengthening used inside pre-stressed (pre-made) or other concrete products. It is the brown spikes poking up through the concrete columns of concrete framed buildings or road bridges that you can see mid-construction.

What type of material is reinforced concrete?

Concrete is composed of cement and other cementitious materials such as fly ash and slag cement, coarse aggregate made of crushed stone, fine aggregate such as sand, water, and chemical admixtures. In reinforced concrete, steel is introduced in to the concrete. In plain concrete, no steel reinforcement is introduced. Generally tensile and compressive strength is taken by reinforced concrete and only compressive strength is taken by plain concrete

Can you use fibermesh in concrete in lieu of rebar for a driveway?

You still need to use both, fiber mesh only helps with the small surface cracks.

Why steel is called rebar?

It's simply hardened steel that's been cast in long rods. It's used as reinforcing when pouring concrete to increase the strwength - especially in road construction or building foundations.

Is re-bar and reinforcement bar is same?

Yes.A rebar, or reinforcing bar, is a common steel bar, and is commonly used in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures. It is usually formed from carbon steel, and is given ridges for better mechanical anchoring into the concrete. It can also be described as reinforcement or reinforcing steel. In Australia, it is colloquially known as reo.To know more about rebar visithttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebarhttp://www.rgsrebar.com

What is the meaning of steel re bar?

Rebar is an informal term for steel "reinforcing bar". These are steel bars that are placed within the structure before the wet concrete is placed. Steel reinforcement is necessary for almost all structural concrete because concrete has virtually no tensile or shear strength. The rebar provides almost all of the resistance to tension and shear within the structure.

Can you apply wet concrete to dry concrete?

Yes, you can. You should clean the dry concrete with water and a brush first, and you should use a bonding agent (available pretty much anywhere you buy concrete) for optimal adhesion. You may also wish to add reinforcement such as rebar.
