My 14 weeks old border collie seems to have short hair but I saw her mom and she is long haired. Is this normal and will it grow as she gets older?

there are short hair border collies I have 2 and both parents where long haired as was there grandfather so it hair will most likely stay short
Border Collies (along with several other breeds, such as shelties) have shorter coats while puppies, but their fur tends to keep on growing as they age (especially the mane) - this usually takes up to one or two years. Undoubtedly, if the mom has long hair, your BC will grow a fuller coat as she grows older. She is still a puppy, after all - just give her some more time.

If the Border Collie is older, it will try to fight (playfully) with the younger dog to display its dominance. this could become a habit after a while and if the other dog grows up to be large, your dog may get hurt. If the Border Collie is younger, it will try to fight up to gain dominance. but with proper training, you can get them to get along. This would not fix the situation of the other dog if it is younger because it would have the influence of the ever persistent Border Collie to keep it "fighting". Hope this helps!
